Editorial Design & Illustration hc/ Slow Living Mallorca 2022

The annual edition of the hc/ Slow Living in Mallorca is a luxurious magazine that brings together the best of the Mediterranean slow lifestyle in Mallorca.
This is the third edition I’ve worked on, and for the 2022 edition, we introduced a significant change to the cover concept. Traditionally featuring a photograph, the cover was reimagined with a hand-drawn butterfly illustration that I created. The butterfly became a recurring element throughout the magazine, reinforcing the concept of transformation, which was the central theme that year.
Watercolor illustrations were also incorporated to enhance informational articles, such as those about matcha and sourdough, adding a softer, more personal touch.
The magazine is divided into two main parts: editorial content and client stories. The editorial content includes engaging stories about fascinating individuals and businesses, place guides with the most up-to-date information on living, trending healthy foods, and recommendations such as books and more. To differentiate the client stories from the editorial section, we use black-and-white photography, featuring one individual who shares the story of their company. The color palette for this section slightly deviates from the usual hc/ branding.
As with all other magazines produced with abcMallorca and Helen Cummins, I manage the production process to ensure high-quality hard copies. This involved:

Preparing the files for printing with the correct specifications for both the interior pages and the cover.

Communicating directly with printers to obtain quotations and coordinate file delivery.

Preparing the file for online publication, ensuring it includes proper linking for seamless navigation once uploaded to ISSUU.
